In 1989 James and Norma Rice constructed a series of ground floor rooms adjacent to their home that they had built 22 years earlier. Creating an office and a second floor rental in their residence; they then began the R&R Motel. James and Nora have since passed, however, their eldest son Michael and his wife Laura remain owner operators of this beloved family establishment with the assistance of their niece Valerie.
The R&R is known for providing comfortable rooms of unsurpassed cleanliness with friendly service at a value. All in a beautiful and relaxing setting. We encourage guests to enjoy the uniqueness of our property. A babbling brook meanders through old growth shade trees and under two different foot bridges before traveling to Betsie Bay. A gazebo, outdoor fireplace, hammock, bicycle rack and picnic areas are just some of the features open to guests. Numerous flower gardens and indigenous plants attract a variety of wildlife to enjoy.
The R & R Motel is open from May through October. We are located on M-22 half way between Frankfort and Elberta, part of the Michigan Circle Tour. We offer seasonal views of Betsie Bay and sit adjacent to the Betsie Valley Hiking/Biking Trail. A short walk to either downtown Frankfort or Elberta for pristine beaches, dining and shopping. Charter Fishing and boat dockage available literally a “stones throw” away. We also provide designated and lighted boat parking to our guests. Fish Freezing is available upon request. A propane grill is available free for guest use. Soda pop and ice machines are located in the vending area.
We require a valid credit card. We accept Visa, Mastercard and Discover. Cancellations 7 days or less from arrival are subject to full charge. Departures prior to checkout date receive no refund. A 2 night minimum stay is required on all Weekends during Peak Season as well as Holidays and special events. We accept reservations on a first come first serve basis via telephone beginning March 1st. No on-line reservations available. Please call 231 352-9238. We do not block rooms or take group reservations. Pets are not allowed on the premises and Michigan Law prohibits smoking in rooms. Check-in is 3pm to 9pm.
